Having trouble recalling all the movies and TV programs that had you buzzing throughout the year?
The 2011 Golden Globe nominations are a great refresher, but why listen to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association when the Twitterverse has already spoken?
The social networking site’s “Year in Review,” released on Monday, explores the top trends of 2010 – including the top 10 tweeted-about moments in movies and TV.
No surprise in movie-land: “Inception” nabbed the No. 1 spot on the list. Christopher Nolan’s summer blockbuster also ranked No. 3 on the list of overall top trends, trailing only behind the Gulf oil spill and the FIFA World Cup.
“Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows” was the only other movie to make it into the top 10 overall trends, settling in at No. 9.
Perhaps the most surprising flick to wind up in the top 10 tweeted movies is No. 3: “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World." My guess is that the movie, a tad unconventional and reminiscent of a video game, racked up tweets based on uniqueness alone.
But then again, that’s most likely why “Inception,” which dominated the box office for weeks, was tweeted about so many times: Did the top stop spinning at the end, or didn’t it?
TV, on the other hand, was a little less predictable. The MTV Video Music Awards settled in at No. 1, followed by ABC Family’s summer phenomenon, “Pretty Little Liars.” If that’s not a Cinderella story, I don’t know what is. Of course, I didn’t miss a week - someone had to fill Marquee readers in on all the dirty secrets.
Paranormal hits “True Blood” and “Walking Dead” followed the tween drama, based off the book series of the same name.
Surprisingly enough, award shows nabbed four of the 10 spots on the list, while scripted series like “Glee” and “CSI” took the other six. (Sorry, “Jersey Shore"; not sure how that happened.)
