James Cameron is one of those directors in Hollywood who has always tried to revolutionize the face of cinema. His every attempt has been a trendsetter which has set the cash registers jingling and has eventually ushered in a new genre of filmmaking.
Cameron pushed the technical boundaries of filmmaking to its limits when he created ‘Titanic’. The multi-million dollar project not only broke all records at the box-office, but also established Cameron as one of the greatest filmmakers of all time.
Cameron’s films always have science playing a greater role which helps him achieve technical brilliance while crafting his maverick artistic visions on-screen.
James Cameron’s 3D influencing Hollywood
It took Cameron twenty years to conceptualize and finally deliver his magnum opus ‘Avatar’. One of the most ambitious films to be released in 3D, ’Avatar’ promised to change the regular face of cinema forever.
‘Avatar’ galvanized 3D’s impact on the industry and has ushered in a new genre of 3D filmmaking. It’s been so inspiring that most of the Hollywood’s major studios have already produced or planning their future major film projects in 3D technology.
We can easily refer Cameron as an artist and part-scientist who even co-developed the digital 3D Fusion Camera System. When describing oneself, Cameron says, "I'm not a scientist, rather I'm a science groupie."
Cameron visited India
James Cameron visited India as one of the key speakers in INK conference, organized in association with TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design), in Pune.
Here too, he re-emphasized the importance of 3D technology in the world of entertainment and how new scientific technologies are influencing environmentalist and helping NGOs to protect the endangered ecological system of ours.
Cameron has even offered help to any Indian director who plans to make films in 3D.
“If any Indian filmmaker is interested to use any of our 3D cameras and equipments and use it to make a Mahabharata or Ramayana, I would be happy to help them," he said.
